I know this was due long ago but I’m doing it now. I thought Christmas Carol was okay, but I wouldn’t read it again, in my opinion, it’s a 4/10, not my favorite read, and not great. it has the same ending as most stories and a lesson at the end. I don’t quite find it interesting.
A Christmas Carol is a story about Ebenezer Scrooge, an old man who hates Christmas and is super mean to everyone. He’s always complaining and being rude, especially to his employee, Bob Cratchit, and his nephew, Fred. One night, Scrooge gets visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who is wrapped in chains. Marley tells Scrooge that he’s going to be visited by three ghosts, and if he doesn’t change, he’ll end up like Marley, stuck in chains forever.
The first ghost is the Ghost of Christmas Past. This ghost shows Scrooge scenes from his past, like when he was younger and happy but then became greedy and lost his friends, including his fiancée, Belle. The second ghost is the Ghost of Christmas Present. This ghost shows Scrooge how people are celebrating Christmas right now, including Bob Cratchit and his family. Scrooge feels bad for Bob’s sick son, Tiny Tim. The last ghost is the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, and this one shows Scrooge what will happen in the future if he doesn’t change. Scrooge sees his own grave, and nobody cares that he died.
When Scrooge wakes up on Christmas morning, he’s super happy because he gets a second chance. He starts being nicer to people, gives Bob Cratchit more money, and treats Fred better. Scrooge changes and becomes a good person who loves Christmas, and everyone likes him now. The story ends with Scrooge learning that Christmas is about being kind and caring about others.
