One of my Favourite golf courses on the island of Victoria Golf Club. Victoria is a private course which means you must be a member there to play on the course of use the practice facilities. But one of my friends is a member and hid dad is the Head Pro so I’m lucky enough to go and play their sometimes. The course is out on the water in Victoria and had beautiful ocean views. Basically, on the entire front nine the water is directly in front of you. The course is always in beautiful condition with the fairways mowed perfectly with a fringe and greens are always so fast. The course was built in 1893 and it still stunning. The atmosphere there is always perfect as it is quiet so you can practice, and the feel of a private course makes everything better. All the holes are very diverse and unique as you get to see something new every hole. The course can be difficult as the wind at the ocean can sometimes be very strong and the golf course itself is challenging. But that’s what makes golf fun. They are a great practice faculty with a full range, chipping green and putting green. And two simulators. Overall, it is easy for me to say Victoria is one of my favourite courses.
PW #1 – Paris.
When I was younger, my mom had this nice, red, fancy trench-coat. She loved it and wore it every winter. People knew her for this coat, and she often got compliments for wearing such a beautiful, bright red coat. she took this coat to Paris, when we moved there and the compliments just got better and better. I was about 8 at the time, and my dad suggested we went to this carnival at the one of the piers. We all said yes, and a few hours later, we were playing games and eating junk.
You know, the 8 year old brain only functions on games, junk food and crying. and that is exactly how mine functioned at the time. I was so enveloped in the game, that I didn’t notice when my parents began to talk to their friends. I didn’t exactly care…
Less that 10 minutes later, I was playing different games in other areas, not even thinking about where the rest of the crew could be. It didn’t take too long to get questioned by one of the game attendees who bare spoke English. It was then I noticed that my parents were nowhere to be found, neither my two other brothers.
The police were called, and my parents were found. The only description I could give was her red jacket. She still has that jacket. It is a lovely jacket.

During the summer I went to Australia for my aunts wedding! But when we were flying to Australia we stopped in New Zealand. Our flight was delayed by 6 hours so we had to walk around and find something to do. When went to get some food. Then my uncle, my cousin, and me played cards. It was a delightful experience and I really loved it. We were told to bring our winter clothes because it was going to be cold. It was winter time there because the seasons are switched so I did not get to see their snakes and how hot it could get there. But when we landed it was not as cold as it is in Victoria during our winter months. One of the best parts of the trip other than the wedding was visiting one of their zoos. We got to see baby and adult kangaroos. We even got to feed the kangaroos. One thing that was interesting and took some time getting used to was the how traffic was reversed and people drove on the other side of the road. It did scare me a couple times when we would take a right turn because it was different from our roads in Victoria. I was exited to meet some of my family that I have never met before and get to know my extended family.
PW#1 My trip to France
It was 2018 when my parents told me we were going to move to France, I was shocked at first, but then they told me it was just for six months. I was so excited, and a little nervous, because going to France for six months meant I had to go to school there. Anyways, I can’t really remember when we left, but I do remember the flight there, It was awful, It was so uncomfortable. It started off pretty good, there were a lot of good movies. But then it was time to sleep. I couldn’t, It was so uncomfortable, I tried everything to fall asleep, my mom even made me a little bed under the seats, I still couldn’t sleep. And for some reason I remember hearing the ac of the plane, it was either that, or very strong wind. I tried everything to fall asleep, until I switched seats with my brother and fell asleep on my dad’s lap. The next morning, I woke up to people talking and children crying. When I woke up I it was really late, and I had missed the breakfast, thankfully my dad saved me some of his fruit and yogurt, It was pretty gross but that’s all I had to eat, I can’t remember if I finished it. I can’t remember when we walked off the plane although I remember arriving in Paris. A couple of days later we went on the Eiffel Tower and It was pretty cool. we could see the seine river and all the locks on the railing. After a few days we finally got to see the apartment we were going to stay in for the next six months, I was amazed by how small it was ( the living room, the kitchen and the dinning room were all in the same room ) “This is going to be the longest six months of my life” I thought. It turned out to be great. We didn’t rent a car to move around, we move around on scooters, not even electric ones. The first month was pretty fun because I didn’t have school, because we were still moving in and school hadn’t started yet. We went for walks to the park and ate really good pizza and bread from the corner, thats when I first started skateboarding, I even got to see my best friend that had moved to Italy. It was pretty fun, until school started. I had a lot of friends, but it was the teachers and the staff, they hated me and I hated them. they were so rude and strict. Except I liked that I didn’t have school on Wednesday and the weekend of course, and I also had two twenty minute breaks and one two hour break to eat. I ate at school. Anyways that pretty much sums it up. And that was my experience in France.
My opinion on the book “Master and Man” by Leo Tolstoy
Overall, I think the book is kind of pointless. I can see how to an adult it could be interesting but for a bunch of teenagers, I feel like it has no real meaning except for the fact that 2 men get stuck in a snowstorm, and only one lives. personally, i would not read this book again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone either. I think it is interesting though how a book written so long ago could so accurately predict how rich people act. because all rich people or people with power want is more money, and it’s interesting to see that the same was true from a book written almost 130 years ago. It would be a lot more interesting to me if the book was more captivating, and easier to read. The way the book was written, combined with the content, made me want to do nothing but put the book right back down. I also feel like if it had more engaging content, aside from them literally riding a horse and getting stuck in a snowstorm. I think it also could have been a lot better if it continued for longer, instead of just ending when it did.
PW#1- My favourite season
My favorite season is either fall or spring. I cannot really handle hot temperatures, so summer is my least favorite. However, I enjoy summer when I’m anywhere but Canada because I love to explore new countries. I love it when the leaves on trees turn pink or red, I think it’s so beautiful. I find summer miserable on a muggy day because it’s too hot to do anything. I find winter beautiful only when it snows, especially if it’s fresh snow. Spring is my favorite because it’s when all the flowers start to bloom, and the temperature is perfect, not too hot, not too cold. My birthday is also in the spring so that just adds to it. Fall is also my favorite because it’s like a mix between winter and summer, but better. I’m not the biggest fan of halloween because I dont really like horror but I love fall. Fall and spring both have amazing qualities which makes me like them so much.

I have a cat his name is Dixie but I call him Bean. he’s a bunch of different breeds I think google won’t tell me, he’s basically a celebraty between me and my friends and He’s 5 or 6 years old now and an outdoor cat, he lives in my room with his bed next to mine and my desk. I got Bean for fathers day when I was 9 and he tore up the back of my dads neck when I accidentally let him go and he climbed all over the car, when Bean was 4 we went on a vacation and had to leave him at a kennel out in sooke with my at the time dog Mable and when we came back we where told that he managed to open a window and runaway from the farm where we left him and we had no clue where he had gone. we panicked and looked around the farm for a few days and eventually someone had found him not even close to my house or the farm but we found him and he was fine! he’s a very interesting cat and brings a lot of “treasures” home like when he brought a rat home and my brother freaked out and woke everyone up at 1 am and it turns out he didn’t bring anything inside.
M+M What I think about it.
At the beginning of the story, I found it boring and hard to read because not much was happening. However, during the middle, it started to get easier to read and more interesting. At the end, I began to get hooked and started to wonder what would happen next in the story. And when Vasili gave his life for Nikita I changed how I felt about the book because I was not expecting that plot twist. My favorite character, I would say, is Nakita. Even though he is a drunkard, he is nice to everyone and sticks with Vasili even though Vasili was rude to Nikita and pushed him away on multiple occasions. But I also really liked Vasili because of his character development.
Master and Man Response
I didn’t like Master and Man. First of all, it’s not interesting, It doesn’t have a point, its just about two people that want to get to Goryachkin and they ended up in Grishkino, twice, and that is all they talk about for the whole novella which makes it so boring. It is also so long, they talked about how the road was snowy for a whole chapter, there is nothing interesting about it. I also don’t understand most of it, because there is a lot going on at once but at the same time there is nothing going on, its so confusing. I didn’t like any of the characters, not even Nikita, I think he relies a lot on alcohol and his drinking problems really affect his life. I also don’t like Vasili Andreevich, I think he is really selfish and doesn’t care about people, except I thought he was nice for giving up his life for Nikita.
M&M Personal Response by Val
Master and Man is a novela that I still don´t know what to think about it, from one side, since english is not my first language, sometimes it is hard for me to understand some words and, I need to admit it was really hard to understand most of the sentences since, Leo Tolstoy uses a formal and different words to what I´m used to, I also couln´t find a lot of sense to the story or a reason why the author uses so many descriptive words, it was just about how Nikita and Vasili Andreevich get lost during their trip and try to arrive to Grishkino, if the book was simplified it would definetly be 5 pages long but then I understood that this book was not meant only to entertain but to make you reflect about a lot of stuff, on the other side, even though it was hard to understand some words, when translating them, it gave me so many details that I could picture everything and that was amazing, additionally, I really like to read but it was the first time I read a book that was written a long time ago, so I was really surprised by the fact that it was a really good book considering the time it was written, it even made me consider the fact that everything during the 1800´s people read way more better books than we do now.
In summary, It was a great book but it was hard to understand some sentences and words.
MASTER AND MAN OPINION
I think master and man was a short story that was had a deep meaning and lesson. Although this book had a deep meaning I think it was but overall I think it was a kind of pointless story and should’ve continued for longer. I didn’t like how it was just about them getting stuck in a snowstorm and it could’ve had more action in it. Sure it had a nice moment like when Vasili saved Nikita from freezing but other then that there was no really twist or crazy moments to the book. I liked to learn about the characters and how their characters and personalities changed throughout the book but overall the story was kind of boring. If the story had more action , plot twists and crazy moments as well as a longer continuation to it i think it would’ve enjoyed reading it.
PW #1: Why I Want to go Back to Europe
About one year ago me and my hole family went on a 2 week Europe trip there was 13 of us traveling around. We went to France Italy and Swisserland all of which were dream places for me to visit. One of my favorite spots we visited in Italy was Venice. It was beautiful there the architecture was perfect and it was so cool to see everyone in boats rather then cars the food was amazing everything about Venice was perfect. The only thing that was bad was the millions of tourists in your way. Another amazing place we went to in France was Paris it was magnificent walking down the streets going to amazing Bakers to buy croissants and other amazing pastries. The people of France are also very lovely and all of them speak beautiful French. One of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the world is in Paris and that is the famous Eiffel tower, it is a beautiful tall tower that overlooks Paris. It was amazing to see in person. I wont forget that sight ever. These 2 places were the highlight of my Europe trip I went to so Mutch more, but Venice and Paris were my two favorites. I wish to go back to Europe again and visit it all again it was amazing experience.
PW# 1 Hollow Creek
On a chilly Halloween night in the small town of Hollow Creek, a group of friends, Sam, Mia, Jake, and Lila, had decided to explore the abandoned Thompson house. Old stories say in the 60’s a man and his wife “The Thompson’s” lived there, and one night Mrs. Thompson just died. Some people say that Mr. Thompson killed her and others believe she killed her self. The moon hung high as they approached the crumbling structure, its windows dark like hollow eyes.
“Are you sure about this?” Mia asked, her voice quivering slightly. The others laughed, trying to lighten the mood. “It’s just an old house, Jake said, pushing open the creaky front door.
Inside, the air was stale, thick with dust. Cobwebs draped across the corners like ghostly veils. Lila led the way, holding her dad’s big flashlight, illuminating faded portraits of the Thompson family that hung on the wall. Their expressions seemed to follow the teens as the moved, sending shivers down their spines.
“Lets check the basement”, Sam suggested, trying to sound brave. Reluctantly, the group decided to take the rickety stairs. The air grew colder, and and the beam from Lila’s flashlight couldn’t stop flickering as they walked down the stairs.
As they reached the bottom, a sudden chill pushed through them. The walls were lined with shelves of old jars, filled with unidentifiable contents. “This is gross,” Mia whispered, feeling a creeping dread inside. Just then, the door above them slammed shut, plugging them into darkness.
“Guys? Was that you?” Jake’s voice trembled. Panic set in as Lila’s flashlight died, leaving them in pitch black. “Stay calm,” Sam whispered, though his heart raced. They huddled together, listening to the sounds of the house. It’s creaks, whispers, and a fait chilling giggle echoed through the darkness.
Suddenly a cold breeze swept past them, and they heard footsteps approaching. “We need to get out of here!” Mia screamed. They scrambled toward the stair, the door creaking open as if inviting them back.
Bursting outside, they couldn’t stop running unit they reached the safety of the street light. Breathless, they looked back at the Thompson House. A shadowy figure stood in the window, watching them. Halloween night in Hollow Creek had turned from a thrill to a nightmare, forever etched in their memories.
M+M Personal Respense
When looking at the story as an overall, it thought it was well written because the author was able to include lots of details with very intense scenes and he used imagery very well as I was able to imagine scenes clearly. I think this story really emphasizes the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover”. I think this because when I saw the title of the book and looked at it, I thought it was most likely going to be a boring book with content that I wouldn’t understand. But as I began to read it more and more, I started to gain some interest in the book and about the characters. I thought that the character development throughout the story was interesting because I had a feeling that Vasili was going to have a change of heart and he did. I did find it shocking though that at the end of the book Tolstoy had Vasili die and have Nikita stay alive. It was an ending that surprised me and something that I didn’t expect. Something that I did dislike about the book was that the grammar and some of the word choices were hard to understand. I found that on some sentences I was confused on what Tolstoy was trying to indicate and they seemed backwards, or words were out of place. But that is how old English was and how they wrote. All in all, I liked the story as I thought the plot was interesting as well as the character involvement.

My personal opinion on Master and Man
Master and Man was an interesting book and I enjoyed it. The book had a very interesting story line that was easy to follow. The characters were described well enough that as a reader I could understand the point they were trying to make. I liked that the author did not rush to finish the book but rather took his time and painted a word picture of what was going on in the moment. It made me feel like I was there witnessing it. I liked that the story had a good build up and explanation of why Nikita behaved a certain way and why Andreevich did the things he did. I liked the internal monologue Andreevich had that told us he was going in circles literally and emotionally. I liked the ending to the story because I did not think that is how it would have ended. I was surprised that after all the greediness and selfishness Andreevich showed, in the end he turned out to be a really great human being. He didn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself so Nikita could have a longer life, or so he had hoped. I liked that Nikita apologized to his son for his wrong doing, it showed great courage on his part. He understood that his drinking had led him down a dark path, and he loved his son more than he loved the drink.

my personal opinion on the Novella Master and Man – Rachel D MYP4
master and man personal opinion – Rachel MYP4
Master and Man is a Novella written by Leo Tolstoy, it tells the story of a wealthy man named Vasili Andreyevich and Nikita his humble servant. In the story, both Nikita and Vasili embark on a journey amidst a snow storm and we read as they navigate through the challenges they face. I found this story to be well-written and thought it had many good points. For one I found the descriptive writing to be very detailed allowing me to picture everything that was being described in my head, especially during the snowstorm. I also found the character development of Vasili to be very well executed as he went from someone who was materialistic and shallow to his selfless act towards Nikita in the end. However, I would have liked more background on Vasilis’ past, particularly an explanation of how he became the person he is also At times, the story felt a bit slow, and I found myself getting lost occasionally. However, overall, it’s a great story that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys tales set in historical periods and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
My personal opinion on Master and Man
After reading Master and Man, I realized that I did not understand it very well. I think this is because I didn’t understand some of the vocabulary. Personally I dont really read books like this but after reading it I would say it was an okay story. I think that this short novella tries to show what it was like back in the 1800s as in the importance levels. They showed that Vasili Andreevich was the master by his authority and wealth, and they showed how Nikita was the peasant by saying how he navigated in the storm and how his home life was, how he had run out of money for drinks so he sold his clothes. I think that I would have enjoyed the book more if I would have understood a bit more.
my personals response on master and man
I think that master and man was a decent book but I didn’t like it that much. the end was the only part that I liked. I feel like they could have added more to it instead of them just being cold and getting lost all the time and I think that there should have been more action in the book. The character’s were good I did like learning about them and who they were. Some characters were pretty cool like Vasili and Nikita. I liked how Vasili changed at the end of the book and saved Nikiti by laying on him to keep him warm but that was basically one of the only parts that I liked. I probably wouldn’t read the book again. I might have read it again if there was more to the story.

My response to “Master and Man”
My overall personal response to the book “Master and Man” was that it was an okay read because it was easy to foreshadow what would happen like when they but it was also boring. One of the reasons why I liked “Master and Man” was because it was more on the side of an easier read. My favorite part in the book was when they got stuck in the snow for the last time at the end of the book.
“Master and Man” Viv
After reading Master and Man I was glad it was over but did enjoy the little details such as the hanging clothing, the backstory to Nikita and his development through the story and the dreams Vasili Andreevich and Nikita where having when they died or was close too death. The book was well written it just didn’t have very much going on through the beginning and the middle of it but towards the end is where it felt like it began to pick up with Vasili Andreevich trying to save himself but then getting brought right back to the sledge and seeing Nikita in the sledge decided to save him instead of himself. I think the development of Vasili Andreevich’s character through the story is subtle but noticeable like how he had felt he was not the same person he was before he fell asleep in the sledge, while again deciding to give up his life for Nikita’s. the story was good but I probably wouldn’t read it again.
My personal opinion on “Master and Man”
I found the overall book was a little more on the boring side, only till the end it got interesting. In fact, the end was the only part about the book I enjoyed. Though the book had a sad ending, it was good. I did not enjoy how most of the book was set in one place, I wish more would have happened. I found some parts of the book quite confusing; from what what happening to where the setting was. I did enjoy learning about the characters, from what there job is to what life a home looks like. I was taught few lessons on life in general, I even found my self grateful for what I have in life. I think if the book was written in a more common era I would have enjoyed it more. If I could read the book again I probably wouldn’t.
My personal opinion on “Master and Man”
I enjoyed Leo Tolstoys “Master and Man” novel to a certain extent. I believe it is a fantastic novel for those who enjoy a good fictional story about the bygone days, like me. However, I did not find this particular one amusing to read, as I had a hard time understanding what the story was about. When the story started to progress and get more interesting near the end, I enjoyed it more and more and started to understand who the characters were and what effect they had on the story. The end of the story was a good way to end the book because it showed that Vasili could be a somewhat good person and, despite all of the egotistical behaviour, he still saved Nikita’s life by laying on top of Nikita to keep him warm. The subtle humour made the story more enjoyable and made it feel more like real life rather than just a fictional book. I would’ve liked to know more about Vasili’s past and how he came to be. I feel like it would enrich the story to make it more enjoyable.
Master and Man Diego
After reading the book i found it a little boring because i found that in the plot it was very simple that he goes gets lost in a snow storm trying to make a trade there was noting that really stood out to me. All the way up to near the end, However at the end of the book i found that it taught good lessons. Such as to not be greedy and the importance of family and life. So even though i found the plot boring. In the end i kind of enjoyed it. I think this book has great meaning to it. My rating would be a 5 out of 10.
Personal opinion on The novella. Master and man.
Master and Man is an Novel by Leo Telstoy, about a rich landowner called Vasili Andreyevich Brekhunov and one of his laborers, Nikita, who embark on a journey and learn that life is better when you don’t live for yourself only.
The novel is an interesting and entertaining short story. It has a good spread of well-painted characters, and it doesn’t focus on only one character too much; It’s almost as if there isn’t only one main character, but everybody plays a main role in the plot of the story. I would not change the plot, because it was very good and interesting.
The settings are well depicted, and perfectly pictured in the book. I can see the snow storm in my head when I read the chapter that the journey begun. I would change the way they talked about the homes. they didn’t put too much emphasis on Vasili’s or Nikita’s house, I would have talked about them more.
The words used in the book are perfectly in context and they are easy to understand even if i didn’t know what the word meant. I wouldn’t change the the way they used their wording, It fit the context very well.
I would rate this book as an 8.5 only because of the lack of emphasis on the houses.
“Master and man” personal response
I did not really enjoy this novella, I thought there were way to many filler words and things could have been said and described with way less words. I also didn’t really like how the majority of the story is just them being cold and lost in the woods with their horse, I feel that there wasn’t a lot to take in and felt it was very boring having pretty much the same topic and scene throughout most of the book. I also think the book could have better explained the time frame and it would have been nicer to read. Since the book was written long ago some words will be different which makes sense because they didn’t have the easier words or maybe you didn’t use the words when writing a book, if this was written in todays age I think I would have liked it more.
