This week all I did was clean I also had a soccer game where we won 2-0 I’m also writing this during a power outage. On Friday I went to the movie theater with a friend and watched Venom, it was pretty fun and we sat in the back of the theater, he got us popcorn and got us the ticket we played air hockey and he walked me to my car and I gave him a pat on the back saying he’s an excellent friend, I went back home and had 3 new messages from him saying that he had an entertaining evening and that we should do it again sometime and I agreed, before we went to the theater we bought matching pj’s and sushi, we also bought boba and had it on the way there. that was my week and we might hang out this Saturday. 

I found that Our Town was an okay book/play but it wasn’t as good as the novela Master and Man but it was better than the story of Joseph. Also after watching the play I had lots of different thoughts about but I must say that I thought it was kind of weird how there were the talking ghosts at the end. I can definitely say that there was a plot twist when Emily ends up dying like that was so surprising to me. It was kind of weird that in the third act Emily evoked on a reflection in life. I enjoyed how the play our town was more of an easier read compared to Master and Man or the Joseph story. In the end when emily goes back to relive a memory it kind of made me think about life more specifically the play kind of was encouraging that we should be present and mindful of our lives because most of us just take it for granted. This book/play is definitely something that I haven’t read before but I thought that it was pretty interesting to read this play/book. Although I don’t think that i would reread this book/play its that type of thing that you read once and then forget about it.

So, we were in Hawaii staying with my stepmoms parents, and we had agreed to go out to lunch together. Her parents are older so they stayed home in the morning while my Dad and my stepmom and I went out to walk around the little shopping center. I think we agreed to meet at the restaurant at around 12:00 because that seems like a normal time to have lunch, and it gave us time to walk around the center and my grandparents time to relax. So, we get there at 12:00 and we don’t see her parents anywhere, and we decide that they will be there in just a minute, but after about 20 minutes had gone by we thought that they must have thought we were meeting at 12:30. We were all getting pretty hungry by 12:30 so, we decided to order food and wait for them to arrive. The food came to the table around 1:00 and we thought it was super weird that her parents hadn’t shown up yet, but just as I turned around to see the food coming I saw that her parents were literally sitting at the table right behind us. I was like, “Look, it’s them!” My parents turned around and said hi, but we were all so confused and asked why they were so late, but they said that they had gotten there just after 12:00. And this is the part that makes me think my family is a little crazy, for whatever reason, during the hour long time period when both groups thought the other wasn’t coming, no one had thought to give the others a call or even send a text. Also we were seated outside, and her parents were clearly visible. It’s not like it was loud and we were in a crowded booth or anything, they were literally right there. We were right in front of them and they hadn’t even realized, and we also hadn’t seen or heard them right there. IDK what to do with my family at this point…

OK. I need to start off with saying that you should not ever hang out with me on my birthday. For YEARS my birthday has caused bad luck, and I partly blame it on my dad who started it the day I was born. According to him they were in Whole Foods when my mom went into labor and he asked her if he could grab a burrito before they left for the hospital, because of course he did. So they get to the hospital and there is unlucky event #1 LIKE LITERALLY THE DAY I WAS BORN. My dad got a parking ticket and I also ruined my cousins third birthday because they had decided to go away thinking that the chances of me being born on his birthday were very slim, so naturally I was born on his birthday and they rushed back to see me. I blame this on my dad because he would have had time to park properly if he hadn’t stopped for that burrito I don’t blame the cousin part on my dad, but my cousin 14 years later has still never let me forget that it was his birthday first. Unfortunately that was not the worst of events to occur on my birthday. On I believe my 11th birthday I was outside at my friends cabin playing with her on the lawn, we were throwing a large blue ball back and forth. I had no shoes on because we were on grass, but my friend did so she said that she would go and get the ball if it went into the forest, even if it was on my side. So when the ball rolled into the forest on my side she ran to get it and tripped over the sprinkler breaking her ankle. LITERALLY ON MY BDAY! A year or two before that we were up at the cabin and my friends brother Theo had some weird reaction to something (we still don’t know what.) and his eye was big and puffy and it just kept getting worse throughout the day. AGAIN LITERALLY ON MY BDAY. One year we were wake surfing behind my friends boat and my dad fell off his board, but his arm got caught in the rope and cause a really painful rope burn. On my 7th birthday my dad went out biking and sprained his ankle, which was like 10 days before he was supposed to get married. And literally just this last year we were out on my friends boat and out of nowhere my friends dad got stung by a wasp which caused a big reaction, and his foot was swollen to the size a a balloon. I am not kidding LITERALLY ALL OF THESE EVENTS HAPPENED ON MY ACTUAL BIRTHDAY! So put it in your calendars everyone, August 8th stay away from Lyla day. You have been warned.

i just saw a bird, its Halloween and Laila birthday, its really cold and i want a nap, I’m writing this the block before its due and i don’t know what to write. how many words does it need to be? what do you think its like to be a bird?? ?

After the end of my regular seasons which are normally from September to June. After the regular season I play spring hockey and I tried out for a team called the Cowichan Capitals. It is a team that is connected to the BCHL. One of the coolest parts about our team was we had a team bus which I had never traveled before with my team on a bus. There were three goalies and four showcases. I only got to play two showcases because I was playing on another team. In the first showcase we got to go to Kelowna. One of the games I played I had a shutout. A shutout is when I have zero goals against. In the second showcase there were 4 games and I played two. The first game I played we lost four to three. The next game was really close but we won. The last showcase was playoffs. Although I was not playing I still went to watch because it was in Vancouver. I was on the bench opening and closing the gate for all the games. We had made it to the final and I was super exited. The team we played was undefeated the entire season. The game was really intense. It was tied three to three at the end of the game so it had to go to overtime. It was just thirty seconds in and one of the kids on my team skates the puck into the zone and he shoots it and it went right past the goalies glove and in. I was so happy because it was the first time I had come first in playoffs. We got a hat that was super cool.

Since I was a little girl, I´ve always hated sports. There was nothing that could change my mind. That was because I felt like I was not good at it but my grandfather, he always told me that: “Everyone is good at a certain sport, you just need to find yours.” Since then, I started to try everything, football, basketball, baseball, swimming, dancing, soccer, running, etc. On many of them I wasn´t that bad but I just didn´t feel like I could practice that sport because I found it boring or felt like it wasn´t for me. One day, I sat down with my family who were watching a volleyball match, and I swear that I have never been so intrigued and focused watching something about sports. I started to research about it, watch all the games I could, I went to practices and after a lot of effort, I was chosen for being one of Mexico´s national teams libero, that was one of the  best days of my life. After a year playing on that team, I got out, it was a very hard decision but I either stayed there and continued playing or left and came here to Canada.

What happened after that is hard to remember, because of my concussion. Obviously, the next thing that happened was I went to the hospital, but, after a couple hours, when I fully regained consciousness, I remembered something. I remembered laying on the ground, eyes closed, and I was crying. I remember sirens, and so many voices talking at the same time. I couldn’t stop crying, and I remember feeling like everything was bleeding, but not feeling anything at all at the same time. Someone, I’m assuming either a cop or a paramedic, was talking to me. He asked me what my name was, I think, and I said Adrien Mills. I distinctly remember him asking what my moms phone number was, and surprisingly, I remembered and told him. I could barely speak, because my jaw was broken. I didn’t know that at the time, I thought I was dreaming or something. I heard a lot of voices in the background, but couldn’t make out what they were saying. I think someone was saying it was gonna be ok, and someone else was on the phone. The last thing I remember was laying terrified, unable to move, saying “What happened? What’s going on? What’s wrong with me?” Then I can’t remember anything after that.

There are not many things that are special to me, but the things that are, i could never let go. My family is the first thing that I would never give up for anything. I have 2 brothers and a sister. Being the older kid, looking after younger ones gives a sense of purpose and makes a person more independent. And having an older person gives a sense of direction and person to look up to. The second thing is music. I honestly wouldn’t know what to do if i didn’t have music, i would be a completely different person. I love making music too, it is just so interesting, and it is one of the only things i would actually give 100 percent when i am doing it. Another thing is probably sports, especially football. I love the feeling of having the ball at my feet, it makes me feel free to do whatever i want and having so many of my favourite people doing it too, it helps with socialization. The last thing is travelling. I am a proud Nigerian, but i am also proud to be studying oversees. None of it would have been possible if my mom and dad didn’t work hard to get where they are today.

My favourite season of the year I summer. I love summer because because the weather is hot so I can be in shorts all the time, I can go to the golf course everyday and there is nothing I need to stress about. Summer is a time where I don’t need to worry about doing my homework or when I have another test. In the summer I also often get to travel everywhere around British Columbia for tournaments. It is something I look forward to the whole year. I love going on the ferry and getting to the hotel and exploring a new golf course. I also get to see my friends there sometimes. Often some of my friends are at the same tournament so we also get to spend time with them away from Victoria. Another thing I love about summer is being able to spend time with my friends. We can hangout all the time and get to see each other outside of school and do fun things together. We can go to the lake or go to a water park and more things that we wouldn’t be able to do in the winter. Finally, the last reason why I love summer is because the days are longer. I can be outside till 9pm and it still be perfectly light.

I have been to many hotels in Canada, and have been many times to Cuba. However those are the only two places I have ever been to. When I am older, I would love to travel, I do love to travel, but as of right now I cannot go to every place I want to go. A place I really want to go and explore is Europe. Specifically Spain, Greece, and Monaco. Those are my top three countries. I have seen so many beautiful pictures and I have heard so many beautiful things about certain parts in these countries. I really hope to go when I am older either with friends or family to share that beautiful experience.

I want to travel to many places but I also want to explore more of Canada. I would love to visit more of Europe especially Spain, Portugal, France and Greece. I want to travel to these places because I really want to see the culture the views. Some other places I want to travel to are Switzerland, Germany and Iceland because I think they are not as usual places to go and it would be a very fun experience. If I ever travel to Switzerland I would also go to Italy because there is a glacier that connects them both, that you can ski over the border, and I have wanted to go to that spot for a very long time. In Canada I want to go to P.E.I. and New Brunswick, because i think that it would be beautiful. And if I travel to Iceland I would want to see the ponies that they have in the rolling hills, and all the cool history.

I really enjoy all the seasons, however I do like some more than others. My top seasons right now are summer and winter. Two opposites, with different reasons. I really like summer because the air is so fresh and I am tanned and happy. Some reasons why I am happy are well because we do not have school, its not that I do not like school, it is just that I feel like I need a break once in a while, and summer is just the time! Other reasons are swimming, trees are full, flowers are blooming, there is always so many colors, I can hangout with my friends any day of the week, the summer clothes, and so much more. I truly feel so joyful in the summer, and so fresh. But summer does have to come to and end after three great long months, and then it is fall. Now I do really like fall aswell, however I am talking about my favourite seasons. Therefore after november, winter begins. I just love winter! I love the cold breeze that I can feel under all my layers of coats and sweaters. I love when the cold snow falls on my face, it is pretty refreshing. I love how it is always light out even if the sun is down and it is night. By this I mean the snow is so white and bright that it lights up the darkness a little bit. I also love that it is my birthday month! December 17th is one of the days I look forward too always. However my favourite part of winter, is Christmas! How I love Christmas. I love the music, and the lights, the joyful people, the decorations, the Christmas trees, the families coming together, winter break, Butchart Gardens, the cozyness of the warm blankets and hot chocolate, the snow and building snowmen, throwing snowballs. I love winter. Both of these seasons make me feel so happy inside and out. I again, like all the seasons, but I truly do love summer and christmas.

As of right now, I am not too sure what career I want to have when I am older. Well if you think about it “older” just means in four years. I have always wanted to be someone in the medical field. Maybe a pediatrician or a doctor. I would have to start off as an intern, and move my way up. But now I have been looking into law or buisness. Most likely I would hopefully be a doctor of some sort. I have really always wanted to help people, especially kids. The majority of them are always so sweet and so innocent . I have always thought that if I was to get a job, I would want to enjoy it. I would want to look forward to it, and not have to wake up in the mornings with no motivation to go. This is why I would want to be in the medical field, because I could look forward to helping others and hopefully making their lives easier. Including my family, I could be their personal doctor! Right now, I am still not sure what I want to be, or what I can be when I am older. Eventually I will fuigre it out, and whatever I choose, I know I will have to love doing that for me to choose it.

My favourite movie is the “Devil Wears Prada”. This movie is about a young adult who is an intern at a very big fashion magazine “Runway”. The movie takes inspiration from Vogue because the editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour, is known to be very judemental and she would always wear Prada. Meryl Streep played Miranda who is the editor-in-chief of Runway. Andrea Sachs, who is portaryed by Anne Hathway is an intern at Runway but is not interested in fashion. She struggles to be liked by Miranda and the people around her due to her lack of knowledge when it comes to the Runway magazine. Nigel, who is one of Runways leading fashion authorities, helps Andrea and gives her a pep talk. Andrea then ends up becoming Mirandas first assistant rather than her second and gets to travel to Paris for Fashion Week, stealing that opportunity from Emily who used to be Mirandas first assistant. In the end, Andrea ends up leaving because she didnt want to become the person that manipulates her friends just to get ahead. I love this movie not only because of fashion, but also because of the meaning behind it. No matter how hard it was to get it or how many people wish they had it, you are well within youre rights to leave a job that isn’t working for you.

The basketball game that I had on monday the 21st of October. We played against the Baynation Bulls. We started off by losing and then we were winning and then for the rest of the game we continued with losing. By the end of the first half the score was 16-24 (Baynation had 24 and we had 16) at the end of the first half. in the second half we started to catch up till the point where we tied it up 28-28. From that point on we were neck and neck till they scored a three and they kept getting points putting us in their dust. later in the game when there was a minute left we knew that there was no way that we could win but we still tried. By the end of the game it was 36-48, we had lost by 12 in the end.

I love halloween, my favorites holidays are christmas and halloween but I think that my favorite holiday is halloween because I love to put costumes on and to go to scary houses and parties, i also love the scary movies because I like to fell like to be scared. I love to decorate my house of halloween and something that I do with my family is we try to be the first one who have the house decorate, I love to decorate my door of my room and my mom love to buy inflatable halloween decorations and she puts  some lights on the house  so when its night my house looks so pretty. I like to go out and ask for treat or trick with my friends and my brothers, I also love to give candy to the kids because I like to see what costumes they have on. On some years my mom does halloween parties so all my cousin and friends come to my house and we have so much fun seeing movies and eating candy. Something else that I love halloween it is that my birthday is in that month so I like that month or that holiday because for that reason. I like christmas a lot because I also like the presents, song and the decorations but I prefere halloween so much more.

After watching Challengers six times since it came out, it has become my favorite movie, and here’s why. The film moves between two time periods, giving an understanding of the characters and their relationships. 

At the center of the story is Tashi, played by Zendaya, a talented tennis player getting through the competitive world of tennis. She finds herself caught in a love triangle with her current husband, Art, and Patrick, a rival player who was once Art’s doubles partner. As the story unfolds, we see how Tashi’s drive to play tennis clashes with her emotions. The movie explains the complexities of love, rivalry, and ambition in a way that feels incredibly real.

Overall, Challengers not only shows the thrill of tennis but also dives into personal relationships and the choices we make. 

My Basketball Tryout

Last week i had my tryout for the Brookes Westshore senior basketball team there was 23 people there and 15 people could make it. Me and archie were the only grade 9 there everyone else was grade 11 or 12 i was doubtful of making the team. so i went to the tryout at around 7 pm and i played horrible one of my worse games i would usually play much better however on that day i played horrible. I went home doubtful and prayed to of made it the next day i walked into the cafeteria  and saw my name on the list of people that had made it i was so happy and proud of my self me and archie had both made the team.

 

My 15th birthday trip

A quinceañerais is a significant celebration in many Latin American cultures. Traditionally, it involves a party with family and friends and is a day to celebrate growing up, responsibility, and the future ahead.While some people choose the classic celebration of a party, there is also the option to go on a trip of your choosing For my birthday, I have chosen to celebrate my quinceañera by travelling to Italy! When visiting Italy, although I’m not fully decided, I believe I want to visit Rome and Venice. In Rome, I would love to explore its ancient landmarks, especially the Colosseum and the Roman Forum because they are both such beautiful landmarks with a lot of history to them which excites me as Roman history is something I’m passionate about. Something else I would like to do in Rome is visiting and tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, as it has always been a dream of mine to see it in person and I love the fountain’s architecture and its beautiful design. And lastly try traditional Roman dishes such as cacio e pepe carbonara, and also fresh pizza. In Venice, I hope to take a gondola ride through the canals, and visit sites like St. Mark’s Basilica because it is such a beautiful monument. Overall One of the most exciting parts of my trip will be my family as I have invited many of my family members, such as my aunts and cousins, Sharing this experience with my loved ones means so much to me as I’ll get to create so many unforgettable memories together with them as I explore Italy’s culture and history.I look forward to enjoying meals together, discussing our trip, and simply being together as we celebrate an important milestone in my life. Having my family by my side will make the experience even more meaningful and special and I cannot wait.

Reasons why I am exited for Christmas. I am really excited for Christmas, it is my favourite holiday. I really want to snow this Christmas because I like playing in the snow with my brother. I really excited to put up my Christmas tree and hang the stockings by the fireplace. I really the like the way the Christmas tree looks in the living room  with all the lights. I am also excited to listen to Christmas music while me and my family decorate the house. I want it to be cold outside but warm inside. I am really excited for the break because there is no school and I get to wake up as late as I want. I am also excited because I get get to go to Mexico to spend Christmas with my grandparents, and spend new year’s at Puerto Vallarta with all my cousins on my dad’s side. I really like watching the snow from my window. I am also excited for the presents. I really hope this Christmas is the best.

As a grade 9 student, the excitement for the Pro-D days is palpable. Its not just another day off from school; its an opportunity to recharge, reflect, and do whatever I want!

Primarily, Pro-D Day means a break from the usual routine of classes. No tests, no teachers, and no uniforms. First off, the freedom of not having to follow the schedule is incredibly liberating. No rushing between classes, no homework to stress over, and no tests waiting for me. Instead, I get to focus on things I am genuinely interested in. This Pro-D Day, I am having a party with some of my close friends, its going to be fun!!!!!

Pro-D Day allows for some much-needed time to reflect. With the first few months of school year behind me, it is a perfect time to think about my goals and what I want to achieve moving forward. I plan to set aside some time to consider how I can improve in my studies and what steps I can take to make the rest of the year even better.

In conclusion, I am overly excited for Pro-D Day on Friday because it offers a break from routine and a chance to dive into my interests, connect with friends, and explore new opportunities!

I always wanted to go to New York so when my parents told me we where going to New York I was so excited . I arrived at 3 am to New York and there was light everywhere event though it was 3 am and it was so lonely the street where empty . Now that I think about it I have never walked so much in my life. I remember my family got scammed by some group of people when we wanted to go visit the Statue of Liberty we wanted to stand where the statue was but the people who was going to take us didn’t say that we only passed by the statue so that was kind of sad . It was so shocking how New York is so full people like everywhere I went it was full. One thing that a I remember is that the subways smelled horrible also there were really dirty and there were a lot of rats that was really disgusting. Also it was so cold like I couldn’t feel my face there was so much wind that my nose was so red but I did really enjoy New York I would definitely come again .

The tale of falling asleep.

I went to bed late yesterday because I wasn’t tired. I watched relaxing videos on my phone for a while. After that, I still wasn’t very tired so I went upstairs to the living room where my mom was watching something on the TV. She was watching a doctor’s show. I joined her on the couch and we watched the movie. My dad was doing his Duolingo in another room. Halfway through the episode, my mom got bored and went on Facebook to post photos of mushrooms she took. A while later my came and joined us. I looked at the time on my mom’s phone and realized it was kind of late. So, I went downstairs to try and fall asleep again. I wasn’t really tired still so I considered going back upstairs until I was. But then I remembered how I was always really tired in the morning. So, I got in bed and got comfy. About 20 minutes later I was still not asleep and I was getting hot. I shifted my position a couple of times but the only thing that was doing was pushing my blanket off of the bed. A while later my back was getting really uncomfortable. So, I ended up sleeping parallel to my pillows. Only then was I able to fall asleep 50 mins after I got in bed.

I made apple pie because I was hungry but it ended up taking 4 hours to make. I started baking at 10 am and was done by 4:30. I was very upset because I messed it up then my dad fixed it then it had to sit for an hour but my dad went golfing so it sat for 3 hours maybe longer and when It was done sitting and the filling and stuff was made it had to bake for another hour. I made cookies with the left over crust so they needed to be taken out after 40 mins baking then another 20 for the actual pie and then when it was done it had to cool for another hour so it wouldn’t be yucky and burn my mouth when I ate it so I ordered sushi and watched modern family till it was done and in my opinion it turned out very good the apple bits are just very big so for next time I will cut them smaller. this weekend I’m baking cookies and maybe carrot cake because I found carrot cake mix at Tillicum and its my mommys favourite so it would be a nice treat for her when she’s tired after work

Since I was little my family has a tradition about all the mornings in my families birthdays. What the tradition is about is that the day of my families birthdays the whole family wakes up the one who is turning years with a cake of donuts which was just donuts of krispy kreme and singing the happy birthday song, and then for breakfast we would have does donuts. That tradition started with me saying to my family when I was little that I wanted donuts for my birthday and since that day every birthday I had have and my brothers had have had been with my parents waking us up and surprising us with some donuts for breakfast. All thought we know what is going to happened when we wake up on our birthdays we never change that tradition and we like doing that, so its now a tradition of my family. Now every year I know that my family will be waking me up singing happy birthday and bringing me donuts to eat for breakfast, this year I am not with my family so my birthday will be without my parents and without having my parents and brothers singing me the happy birthday and bringing me donuts so that makes me a little sad because I never had a birthday without my family and that makes me scared but I will be with my friends and I know I will have so much fun with them this year.

I am currently reading a novel called Oryx and Crake. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world with most of humanity being wiped out due to a man-made pandemic. Jimmy (snowman) and Crake are both in love with Oryx. Crake and Jimmy baisically fight to win over Oryx throughout the story and they are both jelous when they see the other talking to her.

“Immortality,” said Crake, “is a concept. If you take ‘mortality’ as being, not death, but the foreknowledge of it and the fear of it, then ‘immortality’ is the absence of such fear.” (Page 303)

This Quote by Crake shows his philosiphical views of life and death. He suggests that true immortality isn’t exactly about living forever, but it is mastering how to eliminate the fear and anticipation of death.

Halloween, Halloween is one of the two favorite times of the year because its a magnificent blend of creativity and haunted actions. The excitement of putting up decorations, the fun in scaring people, and the joy of eating chocolate and candy with your friends all contribute to the experience. Plus, its the time to embrace the spooky spirit that scares most people. To me, the whole season of fall – putting up decorations, going to parties, and spending time with friends- it can just be such a magical season. But so can Christmas. Christmas is a wonderful and magical time, kind of like Halloween, but not really. Some of the best thing about Christmas is that it brings food, family, and joy all together. Christmas isn’t just about those things; it’s also about putting up a tree and getting to put decorations up, as well as placing gifts under the tree to give to family. Although the feeling of waking up christmas morning and looking outside at the fresh snowfall is something truly magical, nothing could replace it.
