Personal Response to The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was the best book that I have read in school. It was so much better than all of the other books that I have read. The way the story was made was great too. It was really entertaining. From the mysteries to all of it adding up slowly to the reveal at the end. There were some parts in the book that were entertaining like the part when Mr. Utterson and Poole broke into Dr Jekyll’s lab because they thought that there was something wrong with Dr Jekyll. Another part that was entertaining is the twist at the end about Hyde and Jekyll being the same person was another part that I liked. The characters were good like Mr. Utterson who was my favorite character. He was one of the most central characters in the book. He is described as a rational, calm, and trustworthy individual who really values his friendships and that was one of the reasons why I liked him. He was a close friend to Dr Jekyll and he was trying to find the connections between Mr. Hyde and Dr Jekyll. By the end of the book he was able to add all of the information together to find out the truth about them at the end. This shows how much Mr. Utterson values the safety of his friends and I really liked that part about him. Dr Jekyll’s and Mr. Hyde’s characters were good too. How the connections of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are slowly revealed was another part that I liked about them. For example in chapter 1 when Mr. Hyde walks over a girl and pays 90% of what he owed to the girls family under Dr Jekyll’s name and only 10% with his own money which is what started the investigation into their connections. Than it starts to become more clear like when Mr. Utterson finds the broken cane that Mr. Hyde used to kill sir Danvers. The cane is the one that he gave to Dr. Jekyll in chapter 4 and the way Hyde’s hand writing is very similar to Jekyll’s. Than there is the reveal that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person and how Jekyll has been experimenting to separate his good side from his bad which resulted in the creation of Mr. Hyde. Overall the book was great with its entertainment and mysteries and I would definitely read it again in the future .

IRJE #4 The science of Self-Discipline

The science of Self Discipline is a book made by Peter Hollins a bestselling author, human psychology researcher, and best known for is work on self defence. He has been studding about psychology and peak human performance for over a dozen years. He has helped and worked with numerous individuals to help them unlock their potential and to achieve success. He has put all of These teaching into his book called  The science of Self-Discipline. The book is about how to understand self-discipline, how to increase will power and motivation, and mindset. In this book Wille he is explaining the biological basis of self-discipline he says how you should focus on self-discipline when you are trying to achieve ling-term goals.

“Being disciplined in your pursuit of long-term goals is only possible if you can consistently focus on the decision and actions that lead to accomplishing those goals. Thus, it’s nearly impossible to achieve focus and self-discipline separately, as each is intertwined with the other.” (P23)

What he means is that when you are trying to achieve a long-term goal you have to keep focusing on the chooses and decisions you are making when your trying to achieve it. For example you can chose to go to the gym and work out or stay home and watch TV even if its for one day you have to focus on your goals and actions you do. you have to chose the right option and stay focused on what you are doing. That is what he means in this quote.

IRJE #3 The Champions Mind

For this quote on the champions mind by JIM AFROMOW. It is on chapter three, Be In It To Win It.  Jim is talking about how to be patient and to let the play come to you. He calls this part PACE, DONT RACE which means don’t try to speed up or rush to what’s going on when you feel pressure but to stay calm and be on the same pace as the play that is going on. In this part he says what you should do if you are going to fast and making errors.

“when things go wrong or you feel pressure increase, everything usually speeds up-your walking pace, rate of speech, and so on. If your inclination is to rush, remind yourself to slow it down in order to avoid making errors.”(P72)

What he means is when you mess something up, make an error, or start to fell pressure you will start to speed up and rush. which could lead mistakes and if you are in a tournament finals you cannot make mistakes or that will cost you a game or the lead. you have to slow down and remind your self no to rush and to stay on the same pace as the play that is going on. If you do that it will be easier to play and to avoid mistakes. That is what he means in this chapter.

IRJE #2 The Champions Mind

The Champions Mind is a book made by JIM AFREMOW who is a high performance consultant. he is the author of mutable best selling books on sports psychology and leadership with one of those books being The champions mind. The book is about how to develop confidence, concentration and mental preparedness (the elusive edge that sets a champion away from the rest.) In the book he is talks about how to improve focus and he says a quote that was said by Michel Phelps, history’s most decorated Olympian with 22 medal with 18 of those medal being gold. This quote is about how you should stay focused when you are playing sports anywhere.

when I am focused, there is not a signal thing, person, anything that can stand in my way of my doing something. There is not. If I want something bad enough, I feel I’m going to get there. (p.44)

what he means is that when you are playing sports you have to stay focused and Wille you are focused there is nothing that can stop you from what you are trying to achieve or get. you also have to believe and know that you are going to achieve it because if you are just trying to achieve a goal and you don’t know if you are going to achieve it you wont get it you have to know and believe that you are going to get to that goal. That is how great athletes think train and thrive.

IRJE 1# relentless

Relentless is a book made by Tim’s Grover a personal trainer who has trained mutable professional athletes like Michel Jordan and Kobe Bryant. The book is about how to achieve mental and physical dominance and showing how to be relentless and to have the ability to achieve whatever you want. In the book he explains what it takes to be a professional and in the book he tells a secret about how to become a professional athlete.

“Cleaner law: When you’re going through a world of pain, you never hide it. You show up to work ready to go, you face adversity and your critics and those who judge you, you step into the zone and perform at the top level when everyone else is expecting you to falter. That’s being a professional.” (p. 172)

This means that if you want to be a professional or a famous athlete you can’t let your emotions or others stop you from moving forward. You have to keep coming to practice, going to the gym to work out, stay focused on your goals, and don’t let your emotions or people put you down. So if people are thinking that you are going to fail or not do good in a game you have to prove them wrong by not letting your problems take over you and make you do bad, you have to stay focused and perform. That is what you have to do to become a professional.

PW#4 basketball game

It was a Tuesday and we were facing agents champions black the team that we played in our last tournament. The game was at SJ Willis at  8:00pm. once I got there I stretched and changed for the game. Then the game started and it was pretty close both of our teams didn’t go down by many points and the champions team had two very good players there was a kid with the number 13 and he was very good he made like have of the points for his team. There was also a short kid I forgot his number but he made a lot of threes. The game continued and when the first half ended it was tied I forgot the score but I know that it was tied. Then the second half started and It was still tied for the rest of the game and then with like 4 minutes left in the game the champions scored 4 points witch gave them a lead of 42 to 38. Then we had one of players core a very good basket and it was a 2 point game with 1 minute left. Then we had one of our players go in for a layup and he got fouled but missed the shot so he had two shots to tie the game and he made both of them. there was still one minute left so we didn’t have time to celebrate and we gave our hardest defense and we were able to stop the champions from scoring but they also did not let us score to. So the game ended with a draw with a final score of 42 to 42. That was my game agents champions last week.

Personals response to our town by Thornton wilder.

To me the book our town by Thornton Wilder was not that good. It was pretty boring for the whole play and there wasn’t anything exciting happening in any of the acts. When I was watching the end the play I thought that it was weird that there were talking ghost in the end. They could have at least made them standing instead of them sitting in chairs. I did like gorges character though only because he plays baseball which is one of my favorite sports and he was said to be a very good Picher and I am a very good Picher to. I was surprised when Emily died in the third act. I did not think that she was going to die at all in the 9 year time skip. I thought that they were going to have a big fight and break up like I was not suspecting her to die at all. I did like the life lesson about being more mindful and thankful about life because most people in the world just don’t really care about how special life really is and how you should be thankful to have it. I would probably not read the book ever again. That is my personal response on our town by Thornton Wilder.

my personals response on master and man

I think that master and man was a decent book but I didn’t like it that much. the end was the only part that I liked. I feel like they could have added more to it instead of them just being cold and getting lost all the time and I think that there should have been more action in the book. The character’s were good I did like learning about them and who they were. Some characters were pretty cool like Vasili and Nikita. I liked how Vasili changed at the end of the book and saved Nikiti by laying on him to keep him warm but that was basically one of the only parts that I liked. I probably wouldn’t read the book again. I might have read it again if there was more to the story.
