It’s not a line, or spectrum, from right to left, but a circle where the extremes meet. Understood in this way, the current love affair of the American far-right with Putin of Russia and Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and Mr. Trump’s mish-mash of name-calling against his enemies, begin to make sense.
