Understood in this way, things begin to make sense: the love affair of the American far-right with Putin of Russia and Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and Mr. Trump’s mish-mash of name-calling against his enemies, and the difficulty distinguishing between “corporate liberals” and “moderate conservatives,” for example.
