PW #8: Pre-Japan

It’s currently an early Monday morning, and I’m here in Victoria Int’l Airport awaiting a flight to Vancouver. Why am I here? This is probably a normal reaction to this statement, and the answer is a trip to Japan. This has been something that I’ve been looking forward to for as long as I can remember, and now it’s finally happening! To say the least, I honestly have no idea what to expect from this trip. I don’t know what it’s going to be like when I land, and I don’t know what everything is going to be like really at all. Part of the excitement I would say. I imagine it’s going to be so different from here. The plan is massive, but I think achievable. If everything goes accordingly, I should be able to get to Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Sapporo all in one pull. Hopefully everything works out. As I’m writing this in an airport seat, all I can really do at this point is fantasize. One of my biggest ambitions is to ski in Japan, and I really hope I can up in Hokkaido. Seeing videos of the snowpack up in that region makes me even more excited as time goes on! The Shinkansen system, or the bullet train, is another part of Japan that I’ve always been absolutely fascinated by. The fact that you can barrel along at 300 km/h on land is really crazy to me. I can’t wait to see where this trip takes me.
