Romeo & Juliet: PR

For me, Romeo & Juliet is one of those plays that I have heard about countless times, but one that I had never really looked into until just recently after we watched the movie. Personally, I quite liked the plot. The dynamic between the Montagues and the Capulets is something that made the whole storyline pretty interesting. I found the fact that Juliet was destined to marry a person of the family’s choice (especially at such a young age) interesting, especially considering that something like that isn’t inherently common today. Socially in today’s world people get married around age twenty-six, compared to the age fifteen that Juliet was planned to be in a marriage. I particularly liked the end-scene of the film, where both Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, symbolizing their love for each other. It really shows how destined these two individuals were to marry. I also found the language very different from the way that all of us talk today, and I do admit that I found it difficult to follow at certain points of the film. The balcony scene was another scene from the movie that I also found memorable, primarily due to the sentiment of it. Romeo sneaking into Juliet’s residence was something that I found really surprising, especially since it was mentioned in the film that any outsiders who enter would be killed on sight with no questions. The fact that Romeo was willing to take the risk of being killed just to see Juliet speaks volumes. I do still wonder why Juliet’s family was so incredibly steadfast for her to marry Paris, as Romeo appeared as a really solid person throughout the film. Overall, Romeo & Juliet was pretty enjoyable to watch, and I definitely think that the storyline, along with all of the other elements put together worked together to deliver a nicely put together film.
