This poem, Not waving but drowning, was written by Stievie Smith. I think the meaning that the writer was trying to convey was that we should never lie to people. Metaphors were used through out the whole poem. The writer was referring to a man who always love larking, trying to call for help but his friends think he’s fooling around again. He was drowned at last. This is the result of not telling the truth to people. We may sometimes fool some friends because otherwise we’ll all be bored. However, if we are much too far out all our lives, then that will cause a lot of troubles at the end.

The Post had some errors and you could have shown what the metaphor because I don’t think there was any metaphor besides the whole poem.
I agree with Daniel that there were no metaphors except for the whole poem as itself being a metaphor although good job giving us the details
