DEAR-Phineas Gage A Gruesome But True Story About Brain Science

Have you ever thought of times when you want everything about yourself to change. Well if you did think about it then this book shows how it can happen.

Phineas Gage A Gruesome But True Story About Brain Science is written by the author John Fleischmann. It is a non-fiction book but it is written in a fluid writing as a fiction book. This book is about a simple man, Phineas Gage who is the foreman of a track construction gang that is in the process of blasting a railroad near the small town of Cavendish. Phineas is the leader of his gang and he has done this job thousands of times but something goes wrong this time, the sand was poured down the hole at the wrong moment and the black powder and fuse sit exposed at the bottom.

Does his assistant forget to look or does Phineas forget to look. Just moments before his fateful incident he recalls someone calling his name and his tamping iron(a rod used to set explosives) slips of his shoulders and BAM!! it explodes straight of from the hole. Now imagine your eyes are in the front of the rod, it passes through Phineas’s left cheek and goes through behind his left eye and through the front of the brain. It takes a fraction of a second to pass through his head and land thirty feet away.

This incident changed his life forever and will always leave a scar on his mentality and on his physique

The quote is “Gage, his doctors wrote is no longer Gage”

The reason I chose this quote is because it raises a lot of questions and leaves us all at a cliffhanger. What will Happen to Phineas Gage, How will he change, how long does he have left and the biggie how does his incident affect him and the knowledge of the human brain

All these questions will be answered in my next post
